Little Gull is really a special treat, a small resort that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to Sarasota Bay. The resort consists of 16 units, most of which are stand alone cottages. Units # 1 & 2 are Gulf Front and Unit# 16 is Bay Front. The two bedroom two bath unit that we stayed was very large with its own washer and dryer. Each cottage on the Gulf Side is raised up off the ground about six feet and each unit has an assigned parking spot. The units on the Bay Side are up a full ten feet and have parking below.
The Unit we stayed in had a brand new kitchen (with stainless steel appliances} and totally renovated bathrooms. New carpeting and the kind of plush towels you would buy for your home..
The facility is well maintained and the feel of the resort is cozy, friendly and the stroll to the beach through the cottages is charming.
Unlike the previous reviewer, it is a non smoking resort inside the building and everyone we saw respected that.
This is a small resort, there was a brief welcome meeting and since its been long sold out no timeshare hype. Surprisingly many of the people staying there were second generation owners, who were coming there from their childhood. The smaller resorts do not tend to have many activities since most people are there for the beach and the wonderful shopping and the Sarasota attractions and the Beach. When there are only 16 units putting together activities is almost impossible since most people are here for restfulness of the area and they are not looking for an Orlando experience.
The staff was friendly and responsive. They printed out boarding passes and a couple of map quests for us. Being small you get to know the staff and they get to know you.
The area lends itself to exploration and getting aroung is easy. They have a new trolley service which will take you up and down from St. Armand's Circle to Anna Marie Island for 75 cents. We always rent a car so we did not use the service. However, at busier times of the year it may make sense to ride to St. Armand's Circle since the parking can be a challenge.
There were no fees.
The resort has a small heated pool, that usually had only a few sun bathers and swimmers in it. There is an activities room, where there is a pool table, ping pong and wifi access.
Little Gull would be a wonderful romantic get away, many of the units are two bedrooms or larger and have plenty of room for a family, Little Gull is a beautiful smaller resort, Longboat Key is a classy island and the resort is in easy walking distance to a little shopping center with the best breakfast place in town - the Blue Dolphin.
