Little Gull is one of the most sought after resorts on Longboat Key. This is a well-maintained, well managed resort that is family friendly and centrally located to all that Longboat Key and Sarasota have to offer. Little Gull is located both on the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay, and offers the owners excellent access to boating, fishing, swimming and other water sports. Longboat Key is one of the safest communities on the Florida Gulf Coast. Treat yourself to paradise! Week 8 is also available for the same Unit 8 at the same price as Week 7, so the opportunity is there to purchase 2 consecutive weeks in the same unit.

More of a community than a resort. There are only 16 cottages stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Sarasota Bay. There is red brick walkway from one side of the property to the other. Being a smaller resort you get to know the staff, who are always trying to please. Many of the families staying at the resort have owned for years (decades) and love the place. As the Grandparents get older the Little Gull has becomes a generational family place. It is quaint and special.

Little Gull is really a special treat, a small resort that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to Sarasota Bay. The resort consists of 16 units, most of which are stand alone cottages. Units # 1 & 2 are Gulf Front and Unit# 16 is Bay Front. The two bedroom two bath unit that we stayed was very large with its own washer and dryer. Each cottage on the Gulf Side is raised up off the ground about six feet and each unit has an assigned parking spot. The units on the Bay Side are up a full ten feet and have parking below.

The Unit we stayed in had a brand new kitchen (with stainless steel appliances} and totally renovated bathrooms. New carpeting and the kind of plush towels you would buy for your home..

The facility is well maintained and the feel of the resort is cozy, friendly and the stroll to the beach through the cottages is charming.

Unlike the previous reviewer, it is a non smoking resort inside the building and everyone we saw respected that.

This is a small resort, there was a brief welcome meeting and since its been long sold out no timeshare hype. Surprisingly many of the people staying there were second generation owners, who were coming there from their childhood. The smaller resorts do not tend to have many activities since most people are there for the beach and the wonderful shopping and the Sarasota attractions and the Beach. When there are only 16 units putting together activities is almost impossible since most people are here for restfulness of the area and they are not looking for an Orlando experience.

The staff was friendly and responsive. They printed out boarding passes and a couple of map quests for us. Being small you get to know the staff and they get to know you.

The area lends itself to exploration and getting aroung is easy. They have a new trolley service which will take you up and down from St. Armand's Circle to Anna Marie Island for 75 cents. We always rent a car so we did not use the service. However, at busier times of the year it may make sense to ride to St. Armand's Circle since the parking can be a challenge.

    There were no fees.

The resort has a small heated pool, that usually had only a few sun bathers and swimmers in it. There is an activities room, where there is a pool table, ping pong and wifi access.

Little Gull would be a wonderful romantic get away, many of the units are two bedrooms or larger and have plenty of room for a family, Little Gull is a beautiful smaller resort, Longboat Key is a classy island and the resort is in easy walking distance to a little shopping center with the best breakfast place in town - the Blue Dolphin.

Had a wonderful stay here the week after Thanksgiving. Temperatures were above average - 80. Beautiful sunsets and fine white sand beaches. Saw dolphin several times. Quiet, relaxing resort. Equipped with everything we needed, request gulf side if possible. Pool is on bay side and was small but nice and warm. Great restaurants nearby and wonderful shopping at St Armands Circle. Unique experience. Already want to go back! Staff was helpful and friendly.

This is wonderful gulf side property that is a 3 bedroom/2 bath separate cottage. There is a beach a few yards away with chairs. There are free bikes to use and you also get an umbrella to use with your unit. It is close to restaurants and a grocery store down the street about a mile or two. It is quiet and the perfect place to relax for your holiday. It has a full kitchen that is spacious and a washer and dryer in the unit. There is a pool across the street on the Bayside.

We stayed here last year and the place is real nice. Very understated elegance here. Chippendale furniture, fireplaces and nice big porches all along the front of the units. It's true that the staff is not overly friendly and they put little notes all over the unit reminding you of the rules and that if you break them then there "will be a charge". Enough already. They certainly don't make you feel like an owner at this place. But in all fairness the facilities are so nice that it overshadows the staff. This key is in a very upscale neighborhood and the prices at the grocery and restaurants is according to the area. I enjoyed my week there but was worried about the kids breaking something because of the "additional charges." The beach side are the preferred units. The bayside units are a bit inconvenient especially with kids because you have to cross a busy street but then again the pool is on the bay side so you have no choice but to cross that busy street. Visit here without kids for a better experience.

My family and I stayed at Little Gull the week after Hurricane Charley struck. First of all, we were thrilled that the hurricane did not damage Longboat Key in any way. The resort is very nice, quiet and charming. The cottage that we stayed in (unit 4) was very clean, though there were some chipped tiles and perhaps some painting in order. Let me start by saying that the couple of things that we did not care for were the fact that only 2 units are gulf front which means if you are in your cottage and not in one of those two, you cannot see the gulf without coming outside. Another thing is that there is really not alot of amenities onsite. They offer bicycles, have a pool table and ping pong table, an outside pool and also have umbrellas that you may borrow. The staff was not overly friendly. Having said all that, the nice part is how small the facility is and you truly get the feel of being on a private beach. We would definitely go back again, and anyone looking to rent, please be aware that there is a bay side (with a 4 lane divided highway between) and a gulf side. We stayed on the gulf side and were very glad for that. Little Gull is a very relaxing place to stay, but if you are looking for a place to entertain children with lots of activities, you might want to look elsewhere. Also, beware of stingrays! Apparently this is a frequent occurrence as far as guests being stung. One final word, the sunsets on the gulf side are truly spectacular!

Excellent location with a private beach. Immaculate condo, fully updated. Plush is the only way to describe the units! We stayed in a unit that was 50 feet from the beach! I would go back there with a moments notice! I just looked at the picture. We stayed in the unit to the right in the photo!
