The Reef at Marathon Resort Club Reviews & Ratings

My family and I started staying here in 1983. I bought my own few weeks many years ago and now bring my own kids. There's a protected marina with boat slips and easy access to the bay, and from there 15 minutes run out to the Atlantic & snorkeling / fishing. The villas are all self-contained with full kitchen and laundry facilities, great for a family of 6.

The Reef is an accomplished small resort. The resort is an older and continually maintained property. Be advised (as with many FL. Resorts) that the hurricane season may deliver torrential rain and wind.

The Reef is a family resort (Read: not a receptive resort for ill-mannered adolescents or adolescent behavior). The police are always on call. While the property is adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico and offers fantastic views, the Marathon beach is nearby, and the Bahia Honda state park beach is consistently rated as one of the ten top U.S. Beaches.

Marathon is NOT Disneyland, and is a great alternative to the subculture(s) and coarseness of Key West.

The Reef provides an extraordinary alternative to the traffic and congestion of Florida cities. Do NOT purchase or visit in the fall (hurricanes and rain). Otherwise experience a visit to paradise.

As owners, we always find a polite and friendly group of families at this property. The unit washer/dryer are real pluses. Marathon is a small American town that is non-pretentious and intelligible to a select clientele.
