This a delightful hidden-away resort with beautifully-maintained grounds in a tranQuil setting. The staff are all friendly. + helpful, + the bed deliciously comfortable. The southwest color palette is vibrant + fun, + the patios spacious + furnished with comfy seating + table.
We would give this 5 stars but for a few shortcomings. The absence of a garbage disposal made preparing + cleaning up after meals inconvenient, + there was no washer/dryer in the unit. There is no dining table - just an island bar with uncomfortable bar stools shared by the kitchen sink - a bit cramped. We used the coffee table or the patio table instead for meals. The TV's are small, the small frig + freezer are under the counter so you have to crouch to use, + the whole unit (first floor where all 2 bedrooms are located) is dark even with the lights on, although from the first floor you can walk right outsideto your patio, the pool, etc. from the french doors + there is no elevator to the second floor.
The "fitness center" + locker rooms are small + limited, + there is no cafe, market etc.at the resort. You have to go to the shopping center (nearby), or go to the adjacent golf resort's restaurant half mile down the road.
If you are planning a family vacation the Marriott Desert Springs offers children many more activities, + the villas in Villas 1 are much larger. We became accustomed to the smaller Desert Willow unit but also had a 2 bedroom for just 2 of us. The 1 bedroom with small bathroom counter, frig + area for pullout sleeper sofa would be a challenge for a family.
For size + amenities we will return to our own Marriott Desert Springs Villas 1. For pure relaxation we will rent out our Marriott + return to Desert Willow if the price is right.
