My family has been starting here the last 30 years. The resort is well maintained. The staff very helpful and in a professional manner. There's a private oceanfront beach across . there an Olympic style pool with lounge chairs bbq area and outdoor TV lounge for nfl football games by the pool. There's high end public golf and tennis facilities within 10 minute drive.

Great place to stay. It has been recently updated inside and outside. We would highly recommend it to everyone!

Check out its amenities: The Surfrider Resort is located directly across from a beautiful quiet private beach, has olympic size heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, outside bathrooms and shower around pool, shuffleboard, tennis courts, washers & dryers in each unit, 2 elevators, etc.

All units are large with 1&1/2-2 baths & have a Murphy bed in Living room. One bedroom units accommodates 4 people and the 2 bedroom units accommodates 6 people comfortably.

The units are kept clean & the staff is very helpful & cooperative. On Tuesday, they serve a free continental breakfast. On Thursdays they have grilled hot dogs around the pool with a wonderful Caribbean music entertainer.

Was there for a family event in August 2008... No management on site. Toilets dirty, showers have mold, and you can use the pool at surfsider but you cant use the bathroom by the pool your key wont work.

Awful... no one there to complain to.

Beautiful resort across the street from fantastic beach in heart of Florida Coast!

My daughter and I travel to south Florida every April and this year we traded into the Surf Rider. To say we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves would be an understatement. The resort itself is convenient to everything, very well maintained and has alot to do without leaving the resort. The pool area is kept immaculate, as is the little "picnic area".

Our room, which was a 2 bedroom-2 bath unit, was very spacious, clean and tropical. There is a full kitchen with all you need (except the food, of course!). And having a washer/dryer in the unit was such a blessing. But the part we enjoyed the most was the patio. We were in a third floor unit which overlooked the pool and found it very relaxing at night to sit on the patio with a drink and relax.

We will, hopefully, be returning next year.

Stayed here on an exchange for Christmas week 2004 in a clean and spacious one bedroom with two baths and a full kitchen. Queen size bed (uncomfortable) in bedroom and full size murphy bed in living room. Also a couch (not a pull out) that was comfortable to sleep on. From talking to other guests, it sounds like the resort had been renovated recently. The resort is 3 stories. Most of the 1st floor units have outdoor patios, there are a limited number of unit patios on the other floors. There are 67 units in all. It was a pleasant, family atmosphere.

Amenities include 2 shuffleboard courts, a tennis court, an outdoor Olympic- sized pool (warm and very nice) and a hot tub. We had a very windy week, so it was nice being across the street from the beach as it wasn't as bad. The beach, not at all crowded, is a 2 minute walk across A1A and down a sandy alley.

Being high season, there were some daily activities and trips planned at and through the resort which we did not partake of.

The resort has a good location on A1A half way between Commercial and Atlantic Blvds in the southern part of Pompano Beach. There is a grocery store and strip mall with shops one mile to the south and the Pompano boardwalk and beach area is 1.5 miles to the north. Definately need a car if you are staying here.

I would recommend this place for a quiet, family vacation, with easy access to attractions in the area.
