I had the pleasure of staying at Shawnee Resort’s River Village II, Unit 79, during Week 1, and it was the perfect way to kick off the new year! This unit is ideally located for those looking to enjoy everything Shawnee has to offer during the winter season, especially skiing.

Accommodations: Unit 79 is a spacious and comfortable two-bedroom condo that offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. The living area features a large, welcoming fireplace, which was a real highlight during the colder evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped, allowing for easy meal prep, and the dining area was perfect for family dinners. The bedrooms were clean, well-maintained, and had ample storage space for our gear. The unit’s layout is practical, and it was perfect for our group.

Skiing and Resort Activities: Shawnee Resort is truly a gem for skiers and snowboarders. The resort had great snow conditions for skiing during Week 1, and the slopes were not overly crowded, which made for a more enjoyable experience. The ski lifts were efficient, and the mountain offers runs suitable for all levels, from beginners to more advanced skiers. After skiing, we enjoyed the resort’s amenities, including the heated pool and hot tubs, which were perfect for unwinding.

Location: The location of River Village II was ideal – just a short drive to the ski lifts, and close to the resort’s other facilities. The area is peaceful, with beautiful winter scenery, making it a perfect place to enjoy nature and some quiet time.

Overall Experience: This week at Shawnee Resort was a fantastic way to start the new year. The combination of great skiing, comfortable accommodations, and the relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable experience. Whether you’re a skier or just looking to unwind, Shawnee Resort offers something for everyone. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!

Added 10/04: Parts of Shawnee were damaged by Ivan, a hurricane in late Sept 04. It did not affect the T/S section, except for the days of the storm. Unfortunately, however, it did affect the Inn. The Delaware River overflowed its banks and flooded the basement sections of the Inn. This caused damage to the indoor pool-but only at the Inn...guests here can still use the indoor pool at the Shawnee Commons areas (free shuttles).

Also flooded was the newly refurb hockey/training/ and pleasure indoor ice rink next to the Inn. It appears it may not be repairable at a cost that could warrent its continued operation. Try www.shawneeinn.com or www.shawneeowners.com to see when it & the pool might be ready. (Golf course almost dried out)

The rooms used in the INN as part of the T/S development is beginning to close on the RTU period. This means in the next few years, you will no be able to use the rooms at the INN as a time share. They will still rent as a hotel, and I expect the various companies will give you a room if you would like to give them you T/S week (A hotel room for a 2 bed 2 bath...who loses here????!!)

Some renovations are complete, appears INNs current 3 star might be now a 4 star. (Problem is, in the hospitality business, a few weeks of LAX, and the place can look like a dump.) This is a high maintance facility, even if its state of the art (1900) poured reinforced concrete.

Additionally, the T/S traders are still in contract to use Shawnee Inns facilities, espically the pool, and of course,, the resturants. I think ICE skating for some will include a slight charge. I believe the INNS guests can use the MultiMillion Shawnee Rec Center & Mini Golf up the hill. (Better check).

First POST: May prove to be a higher rating after the multimillion dollar renovation to the Inn and its T/S sisters (all resorts listed as Shawnee). (written 10/04/02)

The Inn is the oldest section of the complex and it shows. Several resturants, one of the largest year round ice rinks, indoor & outdoor pools, golf (champion), water sports on the Delaware River, and the local 'Playhouse' with seasonal productions (off Broadway) round out this Fred Waring & his Pennsylvains resort. Yes, Fred Waring held his national weekly radio show from the Playhouse or hotel on Network Radio (Blue or Red - can't remember- but this is where all the famous actors came to rest when on the East Coast. His company owned the resort & all lands called Shawnee now- until sometime in the 1970s.

Although the Inn has many activities, the free shuttle will take to every resort in Shawnee, on its way to the new rec center, which includes additional in & out pools, Gym & PE center, mini golf, tennis & so on. Ski center in season.

You need to remember that the Inn is considered a T/S, but will not have the room the others listed at Shawnee will have (most of them are full sized 2 bed 2 baths or larger). Walmart (with food center near). Easton has the Crayola Crayon tour (if not put out of business by low cost imports.

Mertz Bus Company (2 min from Inn- free park- call first) has a Wed Shoppers special to NYC for shopping and shows (matinees on Wed- no tix? stand in line at TKTS across from Marriott Marquis Hotel (46 & B'Way) for 1/2 price tixs (no credit cards- no checks)...................
