This is an older resort that is improving constantly under professional management by the Alderwood Group. My wife, sister, and brother-in-law and I spent a full week there in August 2011 in a two door loft unit (sleeps 6) with a full kitchen, two baths and a seperate but connected lock out master bedroom and bath. It was very nice and very clean and the staff was very professional. There are several very good golf courses nearby, three large fishing lakes with marinas and boat rentals, stream fishing, and an absolutely great German restaurant in nearby Winter Park. While there we made ejoyable day trips to Vail and Grand Lake. Beautiful country side and as much to do for an outdoors person as you could want.

Silver Creek is a short (<5min) drive to the Sol Vista basin. It's a great place for kids to ski and has a good ski school. There's not much for the non-skier to do, Granby is nearby, but the economy has taken its toll, and there are only a couple of shops and a handful of restaurants. The accommodation at the Inn at Silver Creek is adequate, but it is in need of updating. The wind howled through the patio doors, and they insisted we keep the room in the "comfort zone" which was too hot. They allow pets, which is great, but unfortunately some owners don't clean up after them. Our room was nearest the stairs and below the main hallway to the lobby and it was very noisy, so try to get a room away from that area or on the upper floor if you get a choice. There are 3 big hot tubs and an indoor/outdoor pool which the kids enjoyed. If you go, definitely check out Ian's Mountain Bakery in Granby. Doesn't look like much but he makes AMAZING sticky rolls, cinnamon rolls and scones.

We love the Inn at Silvercreek. It is an older resort but has a year round heated pool and 4 hot tubs. Great place to stay for hiking in the Rocky mt National Park and to go to Lake Granby. Family skiing (read:cheap) is just up the hill and Winter Park is 10 minutes away for advanced skiiers. Has a mini kitchen but adequate for basic meals.

Resturant has just gotten a new owner and the dinners we had were outstanding. We just got back and are ready to go again. It's an oldie but a goodie.
