Our visit was in May, 2003.. we had a
comfortable 2-bedroom, 1-bath, full kitchen
unit with a gas fireplace.. the staff
is friendly and competent... the ownership of
the resort is interesting in that the Vacation
Ownership Assosciation (VOA) holds the deed
and the members inturn hold perpetual right-
to-use certificates.. this facilitates transfer of
ownership and incurs only modest transfer
fees...
This is a rather small resort (about 20 units) ..
it is not new, but well maintained.. the units
are very clean and bright .. an interesting
feature of the resort is a stand alone building
which houses a library and which is reserved
for adults (a retreat from the kiddies)... also
available are both indoor and outdoor
swimming pools and a miniature golf course...
the resort is located on Lake Carlos, which is a
very large lake with a fair amount of fishing
and boating activity.. the immediate area
offers many attractions including antique
shops, golf and state parks..
The Runestone museum in Alexandria is a not-
to-be-missed attraction... it is based on
evidence that the vikings pre-dated Columbus
in settling in the 'New World".. it is a VERY
impressive museum for a relatively small
town... Alexandria is a thriving community
about 2 hours drive northwest of the Twin
Cities (MSTP)...
