In August 2007 we rented a unit at Colony
Villas as an extension of our time on the Big
Island after a timeshare week. We are
timeshare owners at Bay Club and Hilton
Waikoloa. While the 2-bedroom villa was
clean and comfortable, we felt as if we could
be anywhere other than Hawaii. The Villas do
not compare at all with the lovely Hawaiin
atmosphere of the other two resorts, in terms
of furnishings, resort amenities and activities.
The location is convenient in Waikoloa and
many of the villas face onto the Beach Course
with some good views. The very small
lanai/patio always seemed to be bathed in
sun and thus it was too hot to be outside for
breakfast or dinner. For us this detracted
greatly from what we like to do in Hawaii.
The single BBQ grill servicing many villas was
slow to heat. The lamp to light the BBQ area
was not working so you had to grill before it
got dark.
