September 8-14, 2021: First trip back to Hawaii post covid. Booked two rooms again for family. One room was ocean front view and the other room was partial ocean view. Both rooms were partial ocean view. We did not complain to management since we spend very little time at resort during day. My family had some very nice breakfasts at resort on the ocean and one dinner. Somewhat disappointed in the dinner. Staff helpful. Great location. Resort is still "dated" but adequate for our needs since we could not book our preferred resort nearby.

October 20-26, 2018: Another enjoyable visit to the Big Island and Kailua-Kona. Our stay at the Royal Kona Resort was excellent. The resort has a great location and a very nice staff. No problems encountered during stay. This resort is not our first choice for the area since the resort is “older and dated” but the location is perfect! We reserved two rooms for my family and the views where excellent. The ocean views are better than our preferred resort, too. The preferred resort, located nearby, has more kitchen accommodations than the Royal Kona (no kitchen) so we prefer it to the Royal Kona. My family would stay at this resort again. This was our second visit to this resort and third visit to Kona. Numerous activities and restaurants are within easy walking distance. It was very nice to hear the ocean waves hit the shoreline all night long! Great sleeping environment plus coffee on the balcony early mornings was outstanding and fabulous sun sets in the afternoon!

September, 2016: This was our second trip to the Big Island and booked this resort on a discounted rate through Diamond Resorts for our adult daughter. We also had another resort booked for our use at a nearby location. Generally, this is an older resort with dated décor and a great location. Resort was adequate for our needs. Pictures of resort may not accurately reflect the unit we rented for week. This resort would not be our first choice for vacation but seemed relatively busy and has access to other ocean side restaurants within walking distance. The on-site restaurant has a great view, too. We did not have any problems during our visit. Staff was very helpful.
