This is in the heart of downtown Charleston - once in your room, you can walk everywhere!! One of our favorite places to get-a-way and experience the relaxing life that IS Charleston!!

We just got back a couple weeks ago. The accommodations where perfect. It was like we had our own apartment. Couldn't of asked for a better place to stay or location. One of the best trips we have had. Charleston is a beautiful city with so much history. Plus we never had a bad meal. We plan on returning in the near future.

Studios will be newly renovated! One of the hardest timeshares to get. Everyone loves Charleston!

Great lodgings in the heart of old Charleston. Walk to theatre and restaurants and historic sites.

I Love the Lodge Ally Inn. I have been back multiple times. You can't beat the location. Magnolias' Restaurant, a world class restaurant on many bucket lists is only steps away as is the beautiful seaside park with porch swings all down the pier and loads of other great places to eat and shop.

Spent 4 nights at Lodge Alley Inn in October, 2014. Very well located facility in charming Charleston. Charleston is a walking town, and there's plenty to do, good restaurants, and fun shopping within comfortable walking distance of Lodge Alley Inn. A word of caution about "loft" rooms. The first level contains a huge living/dining room and kitchen area. Sleeping area and bathroom (the only 1) are accessed up a spiral staircase that makes toting luggage difficult. If that doesn't bother you, this is a great place to stay, and I'm hoping to return in the spring. Very friendly, accomodating staff make this a winner.

I have stayed here 3 different times. No complaints for any of the three trips here. Unlike some of the negative reviews i look at the Old Charleston not new!! If you want new stay at a Holiday Inn or whatever is available. The place is charming, love the courtyard in the mornings reading the paper and evenings just relaxing and listening to the music and sounds of fountain. Wonderful restaurants as close as next door or walk a block or two. The old slave market is an open air market where you can find almost anything including local crafts and art, sweet grass baskets are beautiful and you can watch the ladies making them. Rainbow Row is just a few blocks away along with the waterfront park not to mention the battery. If you like grand and old you will love the area. I stayed there as recently as May 2014. My only complaint ever has been the garbage truck, if you are in a certain area of the resort you will hear it but not all.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in 2 different units for a 2 week mgmt. conference spring of 2008. GREAT LOCATION -- you are near downtown, but closer to the battery and the older homes and older shopping districts. Within walking distance to many fine restaurants. There is no reason to have your car once it has been valet parked. The rooms are smaller than some of the newer Bluegreen resorts, but remember the number one rule of real estate: LOCATION -- these units are easily 2-3 times larger than the same price as you'd pay for any of the 20 or so hotels in this area -- or B&B's and they'd be happy to charge twice as much for the smaller space. The kitchens are not huge but adequate -- you don't come to this resort to cook -- you come instead to look at the historical details, cathedrals and eat out and some of the USA's best restaurants -- Conde Nast Traveler often will rate 4-5 of this city's restaurants in the top 100 in the nation. There is seafood, southern comfort cooking, plains and lowlands cuisine here! All delicious! Go for a stroll and see the gardens and historical home tours! I was lucky enough to be here during their "spring garden city" and so I bought a weekend fundraiser pass to let me into about 12 gardens and see inside 10 of those beautiful HUGE southern-style homes in this area... NOT TO BE MISSED... also check out all the antique stores and farmer markets' if you are so lucky to be here on the weekends. They have several annual antique store -- conventions in this city -- that is how much they are into the antique business in this area! So, yes, the rooms do look a bit older -- intentionally so -- it's with keeping with the theme of the resort -- retro-fitted converted industrial lofts -- formerly brick warehouses and cotton textile area mills.

The location is what makes this timeshare my favorite. So much to do and see, we could easily come back to Charleston for a third or forth visit. Lodge Alley would be my first choice again and again.

After two stays, once in a loft unit, the other in a studio we ran into none of the problems some other people claimed to have had. Sure the studio is small but Keep in mind that this is a renovated building, and just about every room is going to be different than the one next door. I believe we got what we paid for, and have no complaints.

As far as excess noise problems except for that garbage truck we were not bothered at all. Come on, it's a city .

DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON. GREAT PROPERTY TO VISIT. I AM A BLUEGREEN OWNER SINCE 2001. 1ST TIME GOING. OLD ACHARLESTON AMBIENCE. HAD TO USE VALET PARKING WHICH I DID NOT LIKE. PARKING IS NOT GOOD IN CHARLESTON. CHARMING. RECOMMEND.

We had a very good time at The Lodge Alley Inn. It was our first time. The staff was exceptional; I hadn't had customer service this friendly and professional anywhere before.

The room was decorated in the time when they had high beds (you have to use a step stool to get up onto it). It had a fireplace; but we didn't use it because it was during the warm weather. The kitchen was very convenient because we had leftovers from the restaurants we visited and were able to warm up.

We enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard. They were other people who were reading and relaxing. Our little daughter liked to walk around the fountain.

The location was great. We walked just about everywhere. There is a grocery store nearby that I shopped for groceries.

Overall, we had a great time.

Just returned from a long weekend with the girlfriends. I am a new owner and this was my first visit to the resort.

I was thrilled. The staff was very friendly - we were not pushed to attend any type of presentation. The location was perfect - a block from the huge outdoor market and a couple of blocks to the Waterfront. The resort faces East Bay Street - so many great places to eat within a couple of blocks in either direction.

We had a 2 bedroom, 1 bath on the courtyard. Because of our location we had no street noise, and because these units are 2 story there was no one above or below us. The unit was very clean (I checked all the corners). I hate smoke and if smokers were in that unit before us we could not tell at all. They will start an ionizer in the unit for you if you call ahead, and some units are no- smoking.

The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were queens in both bedrooms, the floors downstairs were hardwood and carpet upstairs. There were TVs in the living room and both bedrooms. Our unit did not have a fireplace but I understand that some of them do.

My only caution in staying here would be for those who have mobility problems - in many of the units the bedrooms and baths are upstairs.

Going back in the spring.....

We are Bluegreen owners and this was our first visit to Charleston. Here's the good: the area. There is just a ton of stuff to do and all within walking distance. The resort has a charming courtyard. We were in a one bedroom loft and it was plenty big for two people. Charleston was romantic and not really a place I'd take my 3 kids. We left them at home with mom. Also only 2 hour drive from Myrtle Beach.

The bad: I'll be honest--I'm spoiled my the "new " resorts like Big Cedar. After staying in several of these recently, I was unimpressed by the old interior. When I say old I mean not just old but in poor condition. Like chipped paint and a small shower/tub that had been patched and patched. Wallpaper they'd drawn the design back on--those sort of things. The bed was HARD--I hate that. Why can't all Bluegreen Resorts adopt one comfy bed like Mariott has done in all it's hotels? I'm asking for too much:)

The ugly: the kitchen and dining room were real brick floor. It was sticky and I refused to walk on it without shoes on. Also, if you're older I'm not sure how you'd navigate the spiral staircase in this unit. It took some getting used to and carrying up our 50 pound suitcase up the tight staircase was a challenge.

Overall, great city. Very romantic for couples. Not the cleanest resort I've ever stayed in but beats a hotel any day.

We had a great time in Charleston in Februay 2008. The weather was cold, but the warmth of the cozy, sweet accommodations just made for a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. Everything you could ever want to do or see in downtown Charleston is within walking distance of the Lodge Alley Inn. We walked to the S.C. Aquarium, which was breath-taking. The swings out on the pier at the Customs House were amazingly delightful as we looked out over the bay. The night-life is breath-taking as you walk around and hear the music playing from all of the local pubs and restaurants and feel the gentle breeze from the ocean. We love Charleston, and the Lodge Alley Inn is the ultimate way to experience your stay.

We have stayed here many times, and love it. If you would like a romantic getaway this is the place to go. Once you have your car parked by valet parking, you almost don't need it, you are within walking distance of historic Charleston. And the trolley cars are fun to ride if you wish to go to King St. or anywhere else.

The rooms are clean, and the staff is very friendly.

We stayed there last Fall. We loved it and would go back! Location was great and we love the old feel while still having everything you need!

Do we ever love this resort! Having stayed in all types of accomodations in Charleston, this is our favorite. Charleston is old and historical in every way, so I guess some people would be disgruntled (according to one reviewer)at an "old" hotel. Folks,that is the charm of this city! To stay in a regular motel/hotel is not the way to experience and take in a step into the past. You will want to be able to really step outside your door and walk all you can to get close to how people lived and still live today. You will NEVER miss your car that is parked by a Valet in a very nice parking deck area reserved for Lodge Alley. If you want the car, just call the front desk and the valet delivers it to you within 15 minutes. We never move the car when we are there even for a week. The Harbor is just a few blocks away too. Lodge Alley has wide pine floors with some dating back for over a hundred years.This was an important Warehouse area and so much of it is original. The decor is traditional/antique Old South with tall Rice Poster beds, Queen Anne, Chippendale, etc, reproduction furnishings, and alive with all the unusual shades of the rainbow in the colors that were used in the historical homes of this seaport in its hey day. Those with historical homes keep the tradition and I admire Lodge Alley for not making this NEW looking.You can get that anywhere.

The restaurants! To die for !and you can walk to them. The one in the hotel, High Cotton is excellent. and one of our favorites. Also, do not miss Mistrals for lunch.It is located on the market and is one of the only truly good restaurants at the market. Some are more commercial.They are an Old family restaurant and so well done. From Lodge Alley, you can walk to the carriage tours. A wonderful way to see the sites and worth it. One caution: You do not want to be on the street side due to noise from early am traffic and week end late goers. The noise bothered me, but a small request ahead of time has kept us in privacy ever since.

If you have a chance to go,do not hesitate to stay here. We spent around $185 a night recently just to stay in just a bedroom in one of the old hotels in Charleston. It was comparable, so Lodge Alley is a deal.

We stayed in unit 109 at Lodge Alley Inn March 19-24, 2005.

There were three outstanding things about it: 1) The location, nuff said. 2) The efficiency of the valet parking staff. There is no self-park, other than what a guest might find on the street or in a ramp. The valet parking was well worth the $10/day charge. 3) The adjacent restaurant, High Cotton, was the best dinner we had all week (in a week of mighty good food). Fabulous food, pleasant atmosphere, and efficient and friendly service.

At first glance, at check-in, we thought we might escape the clutches of the salespeople. But don't be fooled by the job title "Concierge." She's marketing in disguise. We said "no, thank you" to her on our first day and followed up with "no" to other callers on days 2, 4, and 5. The inducements were along the lines of comping our parking fee for the week.

Now, the real reason we didn't want to accept the invitation to a presentation is that the place is not very well run at all, and for that reason, we'd never consider buying there or using another property in this group, unless it was the only one available in a location we just had to visit. The first impression of the accommodations is favorable...the unit was attractive looking and spacious. The kitchen was minimally equipped. The unit was quite dark, dim bulbs throughout, and limited windows. The furniture was beginning to look a little threadbare, and the bed was exquisitely uncomfortable. And then we realized how inconsistent the promised housekeeping is. How many days are YOU willing to wait for housekeeping to bring you a roll of toilet paper?

Also, there was no sound insulation between our loft "bedroom" and the unit above. Mornings and evenings the sound from above of people walking back and forth was akin to furniture being constantly rearranged. The comments of others had prepared us for the possibility of some street noise, but not noise emanating from within. Perhaps units other than ours were lighter and quieter.

Would we exchange our points to go back here again? Doubtful.

We have stayed at Lodge Alley 3 times and love the location and the Inn. Just like staying in the "french quarters" in New Orleans, except much cleaner and the people and staff are more helpful. GREAT PLACE!

This is not your typical timeshare. Since the Inn is formed out of old warehouse buildings, I think they have done very well to keep the old building feeling, with modern conveniences. It is an inn in the middle of a very busy city, where you can easily walk to many restaurants and historical buildings, so some noise can be expected but we have not had it bother us at all. All the employees are very gracious and eager to please. We are owners and have stayed and not had anyone approach us to upgrade. The only person that approched us was to give us coupons for area restaurants and stores.

We have had nothing but positive experiences at this inn. We will stay there again, often.

I agree with review by bechamp. Great location, lack of true vacation feel due to extensive marketing and sales of units. I agree that outside noises could be lessened by addition of different windows (garbage pickup in early am, restaurant backdoor noise). At first view, nice courtyard, but always occupied by sales agents. Would look elsewhere if I were to stay in Charleston again.

The Lodge Alley Inn is very conveniently located for exploring all that Charleston has to offer (a beautiful city well worth visiting).

That is the best that can be said about this resort. The one bedroom suite was attractive and spacious enough for our family of three, but the bathroom was small, the very large closet did not have enough hangers and the kitchen had plenty of cupboards but was minimally equipped. Our suite faced the street and was extremely noisy. Drunken revelers parade up and down in front of the Inn shouting, brawling and honking horns until the wee hour of the morning, and once they go home the garbage and delivery trucks start their rounds. The noise factor could be lessened substantial if the resort would invest in properly sealed windows. This resort works very hard at selling timeshares (they harass tourists all over town) but does not try at all to make your stay there pleasant.
