Red Wishes

Great AD for this site there jayjay,

That still is straying from the subject. I would not and will not mention here any other site to post on. I will only say that they are out there. Taking away from this site will only make people look elsewhere to a "similar" site. The "List" that you mentioned I do not consider similar, I do not see yard sales ads here....... You will only have til my subscription is through to here what I have to say about this subject.

After all Maurice says it has been phased out, so it apparently is not coming back.

As for a number one site, the site that I was referring actually approves the postings before posting.

Hmmm, there's an idea, but then someone would have to actually read them first.

Now with that said, scroll back up to quote Maurice, "the volume of RedWish postings were declining (we only had a couple hundred year-to-date)".

Therefore,it is too much trouble to read a few postings before posting them, and there are people responding here who are not just responding to place an ad for this site. Thanks marial

Good morning Maurice: That is why I like Redwishes, you never knew what was going to be wished for and when you found something you worked directly with the owner. I traded my 2 bedroom Marriott St. Kitts for a Tradewinds cruise in St. Maartin. I've never thought of doing this type of cruise and someone posted on Redwishes that they were looking to trade into a Marriott and we worked it out. I think the Redwishes opened up other options where you could work out all the details first with the owner, then trade. Rather than depositing, then finding, then trading. I was also able to trade a few years ago through Redwish into Disney Kidani Village, which is extremely difficult to get into. I have had tremendous success and I still wish you'd put it back, and hopefully soon. It was a great way for owners to connect directly. Thank you for your consideration.

Thanks for sharing this. I'll discuss it with the team.

I do not and have never worked for Redweek. I am merely a former customer that sold timeshares via Redweek and I didn't mind paying for that service. The reason I chose Redweek was it's ease of posting an ad and the volume of memberships (over 1 million). I wanted my ads to be seen, they were and they sold.

I post on Redweek's forums mainly, for readers not educated on the subject of timeshares, to educate them on all the scams out there (there are thousands out there, especially on the internet), and more scammers jump on the bandwagon every day. Millions upon millions of people own timeshares and it's a lucrative business for scammers.

Many people believe everything they read on the internet and if they see an enticing timeshare ad that includes a webpage url and that reader goes to that webpage and sees that it looks and sounds very professional then many believe what they read on that fancy, and well developed, webpage.

I don't know one iota about all the points systems so I never post in forums concerning points.

I believe if Red Wishes were monitored on a daily basis and those Red Wish posts that were abusing the system (ie: placing ads in Red Wishes) were deleted then it could work again. There are many scammers that try to advertise in Redweek's forums, but fortunately I, and other regular posters, contact Redweek in order for those ads to be deleted that marty doesn't catch. I realize that marty can't monitor the forums 24/7/365.

I totally agree. That is a feature that we had available to us when we joined. Now it has been taken away do we get a rebate???

About half of my timeshare exchanges were through Red Wishes - since they stopped Red Wishes I have not had a single response to my timeshare rentals posted on RedWeek. Very concerned about whether this entire service is going downhill and is no longer worth the cost of posting or membership....

RedWishes was not meant for rental or sales ads .... ads are supposed to be in the Sell or Rent Your Timeshare area. As someone from Redweek posted earlier, they had to discontinue Redwishes due to the abuses that were occurring (ie: ads).

I would rent my units by responding to Red Wishes for people interested in renting properties for certain locations/weeks. This was what they were meant for; not abuse.

Do you think brian was posting on RedWishes or replying? Why don't you ask him.............

I really miss redwishes too. I tend to agree that some people where trying to adversitise without saying for rent, but on the other hand it was a quick referrance if you had a timeshare that someone was requesting and you could contact them. On the other hand, members who post ads under their resorts want people to look there too. I think if the ads where submitted to redweek before being put on redwishes, maybe the abuse would be curved alot more.

Nice carols725,

That thought was mentioned here in this topic.

Suppose you owned a timeshare you were not planning on using this year and saw in RedWishes that someone was looking to go to your property...........

Well folks that's the way it used to be before we got the old , RedWishes will be unavailable due to rebuilding its site....... A couple MONTHS later when I posted this discussion it was in "rebuilding" stage still, we find out that the RedWeek people are doing away with it.

Fact of this matter is that if not enough people stand up and say how they feel nothing will be done.

Think back and remember what you did when you came to this site and the places and things you looked at here and if RedWishes were not one of the things you looked at say so.

Allthough I myself was unable to fulfill any redwish requests for condo rental space, I did appreciate having a place that I felt had mostly legitimate requests for such. Unfortunately, so many other sites are scammers. Too bad that Redwishes are going away. By the way, I advertised my timeshares for sale or rent on Redweek through their advertising venue and got mostly good candidates from that.

I have had several inqiries from my ad on redweek listings. Not always able to get the week they were looking for, have had good people inquire and overall feel most of the people that use this site to look for rentals use it because it is a good site and the owners are not out to scam anyone. Hopefully Redweek takes note of how many of us are missing Redwishes and more of you need to make it known. Have a great day.

Why don't you copy your post and send it to contact redweek.com below? All of you wishing for Redwishes to return should do the same.

I did contact them, and they said that they would forward it onto there customer service. That she had read the fourm and there was some very good points. That she would have their customer team read it. Have not heard back from them. This was shortly after you suggested I contact them. More people need to do the same in regards to redwishes.

One point concerning RedWishes .... it was shut down due to abuse (people posting ads) .... now people are trying to post ads in the forums, which is not allowed ..... this is the same type of abuse as was happening on RedWishes.

Unfortunately hopefully the rates to advertise do not increase. If people continue abuse what is free, what is paid for will increase. Yes the site is here to advertise and is very asscessible, but please people think twice before you even hint a comment on the forum that include an advertisement. Use the right channels that Redweek has set up for us to post our ads on. The postings format is well done and info is sent to us the owner.. Be glad for what is and hopefully something similar will come back etc. Also input ones ideas to redweek, they have always been very informative when I have asked questions. Have also gone great lenghts to set up this site and build in many Q and A with good info as well having the fourms to share on is very valuable for alot of us who are not experienced in the timeshares and scams etc. Thank you.

I, too, miss Redwishes. Since I have points which let me reserve at a variety of times and places, it was always hard to reserve one time in one place to advertise in the regular listings. I have done listings, but when I've seen a Wish for some other time or place, I could make contact and try to customize exactly what was requested. This made it worthwhile for me to maintain membership even when I did not plan to rent out anything on a regular basis.

I just renewed my account (have not been on my account for 6 months) for another year. I have often found renters for my timeshare from RedWishes. It looks like they have discontinued this service (seems this happened a while ago) due to abuse. Are they giving refunds if this was the only service one uses ? I never would have renewed my account if I had known the changes RedWeek has instituted. Thanks, Phyllis
