Red Wishes

May 19, 2012

I would like to here from someone else about this, but I feel we are missing out here on an important part of our membership to this site. The Red Wishes is something at least I look forward to checking and possibly posting. Like others here I have weeks that I am not planning on using this year and if we do not know what a specific week or place someone is wishing for what do we do........ I guess the folks running the site would like all to post more expensive ; high priced rental adds..... I do not wish to rent but if someone , and there is no way of telling who now wants to use it, I would. Otherwise I'm banking

Thanks for any resonse

Red Wishes and the paid ads are two different things ... Red Wishes are for people who are looking for something in particular that may not be posted in the ads.

I understand what you are saying jayjay, however I probably did a poor job of expressing my views on this subject. I am an owner of multiple timeshares. I, for this year, am not going to use them all. I do not wish to post them for rent. I would allow someone who wanted to use them , use them. All in all I am going to bank them if not. With that said, I feel that being without the Red Wish feature I am missing out here. After all the last posting was almost 2(two) months ago.

I am a patient person but 2 months is a long time when people are paying for a service.

Also I can say that I have answered many of the wishes while they were accepting them.

When you say you would allow someone to USE them, what do you mean by the term USE .... do you mean for free?

That is "Wish"ful thinking jayjay. I do not think I will give a freebee with an ocean front room at a Hawaiian resort Nor my 4th of July Disney Nor my 3 bedroom summer Disney

These will be banked before they are free.......

I agree, redwishes were very helpful.

I don't remember seeing any notifications that they were going to remove the feature. When did that happen? anyone know why?

At least, can anyone from Redweek respond with when this "redesigned service" will be launched? "in the coming months" is very vague.

Why would you take down the service before the newly designed service is in place anyway? Just let everyone continue to use it until the new service is ready. It doesn't make any sense to leave a void...

When did RedWishes disappear? I hadn't looked recently but decided to do it today and found--nothing! Thought my memberships and run out and quickly renewed. Still nothing. Now I'm kind of sorry I renewed! Sheesh! MD

I too miss Red Wishes. I agree, Redweek should not have removed this great link until they had the new one in place. I placed a redwish and had it fulfilled and I've filled a couple of redwishes successfully and easily. I wonder if the new system will charge additional fees for this service in the future. Redweek - please put it back.

Thanks to all who responded.

Remember the squeaky wheel always gets the oil.

The folks running this site should realize there is competition out there and without the Red Wishes I for one will not renew my subscription. I feel like I wasted my money here since they took them away. I will say that from experience I have had many responses from a similar service on a similar site. The only difference is that the other was a FREE posting LOL

Even rentals were free as well as sales

Hi. The reason we phased out the RedWishes is because they were becoming progressively harder to police (people were trying to inject postings into them that we had to continually delete) and the volume of RedWish postings were declining (we only had a couple hundred year-to-date).

The other problem with them was the lack of hierarchy... it's just a big list of requests. It would be better if the requests could be linked to specified resorts or areas (of course, a view of them as a single big list could still be available).

Anyway, we're looking at a way to reintroduce them that eliminates some of the problems and adds hierarchy. I'm glad you guys posted because, although we saw the viewship stats, we didn't know so many people valued the RedWishes that highly in and of themselves.

Best,

Maurice

Michael - I understood what you meant in your first post, I'm not sure why JayJay took so long to get it (I only say that to affirm you communicated fine the first time). Over the years, I've posted RedWishes and gotten great places. Then a couple months ago I went to place another RedWish but the service was down; at least RedWeek promptly refunded my membership, which I renewed specifically to use RedWish. -dave cole

Maurice,

My point exactly, you could not have quoted me better. I can read your posting and yes I believe there was some abuse, folks trying to post a cheap rental ad. But you just reaffirmed my questions in my initial posting on what RedWeek.com wanted. You are forcing a person to post a higher priced ad, where would we be without the dollar bill.........? Now for a member in good standing such as myself(one who paid the membership price in full) and owns multiple timeshares, how am I to know what all of my options of ownership of those timeshares are; weather to rent, use ,lend, whatever, without the RedWish feature. You are robbing me of my full use of this web site as it was when I became a member. Furthermore Maurice, April? that is 2(two) months ago. Does it take two months to fix / adjust something that in this day & age would seem as a simple fix. Maybe actually monitor it. lol

And look at the last posting of David"s.

Yes David my ocean front Hawaii is available just post a RedWish and I will quickly respond............

Good luck with that one David

Red Wishes wasn't developed to advertise timeshares for rent or for sale .... evidently it was being abused by those trying to do so .... a few rotten apples ruined the entire barrel.

You own multiple timeshares but you don't know what your options of ownership are ???? .... if you don't know what your options are then you shouldn't have bought multiple timeshares in the first place. Just because you paid to be a member doesn't mean that you don't have to abide by Redweek's rules concerning Red Wishes.

Very good jayjay, I wrote that one incorrectly, how am I to exploit all my options of my ownership in full... Something to that effect is what I meant, I do know of my options and realize I can post rental ads if necessary. I do in fact have rental ads posted however not on this web site where it charges you to post. I have free postings on another site where I have had many responses.

And again, I will not be renewing this membership

You should also be more concerned more with your membership benefits than how someone words a posting. Do not stray from the topic of the fact that we as members have lost something we could not have had unless we paid a membership fee. A person just surfing the web before Redweek.com took this away could not see the wishes unless they paid a membership fee.

Good for you that you have found free sites to advertise your timeshare rentals, however Redweek is the number 1 timeshare ad site on the internet. Redweek is a business just like any other business .... it's not a charity, and the fact that one has to join to post an ad is the reason Redweek is number 1 .... the scammers, spammers and shills do not want to pay to advertise their scams. CraigsList is free but the spammers and scammers inundate the ad owners with all kinds of trash via email.

I, for one, would rather pay to join a site that moderates it's ads and forums. I have sold at least 3 timeshares via Redweek in the past.

Good morning Maurice: That is why I like Redwishes, you never knew what was going to be wished for and when you found something you worked directly with the owner. I traded my 2 bedroom Marriott St. Kitts for a Tradewinds cruise in St. Maartin. I've never thought of doing this type of cruise and someone posted on Redwishes that they were looking to trade into a Marriott and we worked it out. I think the Redwishes opened up other options where you could work out all the details first with the owner, then trade. Rather than depositing, then finding, then trading. I was also able to trade a few years ago through Redwish into Disney Kidani Village, which is extremely difficult to get into. I have had tremendous success and I still wish you'd put it back, and hopefully soon. It was a great way for owners to connect directly. Thank you for your consideration.
