Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Has anyone heard of ICare Timeshare Marketing Group Inc.

Aug 22, 2009

This company has been calling and says they have a sale for Ocean Pointe -( Singer Island) and willl also rent our banked 3 weeks for no cost. The fee to sell is. $700 and they agreed to take $350 on listing and $350 upon selling. It sounds like a scam - they are located in Ft. Lauderdale. They say they are not a real estate firm but a marketing org. D oes anyone know of this firm?

Yes -I have heard of Icare Timeshare Marketing Group ,and they are a legitimate and licensed rental, vacation, and timeshare property advertising/marketing company located in Ft.Lauderdale. I have personally met w/ the owners and find them very honest w/ nice families. I have visited their office and found them very hospitable and genuine. The State of Florida regulates these companies pretty heavily and I've found that they comply to the letter and intent of the laws in this State.

If they ask for an upfront fee the run as fast as you can ... they're all scams.

NO obscure, completely unknown "marketing" entity is EVER going to successfully sell your timeshare. Period, amen.

If you voluntarily choose to send ANY money to ANY such useless, ineffective "upfront fee" advertising entity, know very clearly before doing so you that are just throwing your hard earned money away, plain and simple. There ARE no exceptions.

It's your choice to make, but I strongly recommend that you DON'T let a desperation to sell EVER override your instincts or good judgement....

They'll tell you anything to get upfront money, then they'll disappear, not take calls and turn on their voice mail. Anytime a company asks for an upfront fee in the hundreds of dollars they're a scam, period.

They tell everybody that and after you give them the upfront fee all of a sudden the buyer vanishes or can't come up with the money (any excuse).

Check with the Better Business Bureau.

And the comment about the families is a joke, isn't it? Bernie Madoff had a nice family, according to his clients.

They called me and asked for $900. I said I will not pay any $ upfront. Then they called claiming to have an offer and left 2 phone #s. I called and they do not seem to be a working numbers. I checked the Fort Lauderdale Better Business Bureau, and I don't find any complaints there. If u hv complaints, enter them in the BBB site. the link is: http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/Business-Report/ICare-Timeshare-Marketing-Group-Inc-92016536

ICare Timeshare called again this morning to find out if they could pursue the 2 offers (about $20K @) for my timeshare. I said yes go ahead. Then he said what's the Credit Card number to charge the $900 fee. I replied, "I will not pay a penny in advance. If you have 2 offers, then confirm the buyer's loan is approved and setup a closing in person and I have a deal for you: I'll pay you 3 times what you are asking for". He started yelling, "That's not the way it works. Do you want to sell your..." Click, I hanged up. It's a ripoff... Beware...

Not sure if it is a ripoff. Their fee is $688, I got them to go down to $249 up front and the rest when it sells. i was told they had a buyer who was already qualified for the loan. I will let you all know what happens.

If there is an "upfront fee" we ALREADY know what happens....

What happens is NOTHING. They DON'T have any "buyer"; they will simply take your money and you will never hear from them again --- period, amen. They will place a grossly overpriced "for sale" ad on an obscure web site which no one will see or take seriously. That action legally fulfils the "advertising" obligation of their "arrangement". They are NOT in business to sell your (...or anyone else's) timeshare. Instead, they are merely in the business of getting people to voluntarily choose to pay them an "advertising and marketing fee".

Don't do it. If you do, you will just be throwing good money away...

Can you tell me what came out of this for you? I am very nervous after reading your posts since I did this last night. The lady told me that she had a serious buyer for my timeshare, but now I am not so sure! Any advice would be great!
