First, The location is good if you want to be close to the city and really, really close to the Zoo. This is a very old renovated Apartment building that has some cool history. It had a speak easy during it’s time and also has one of San Diego’s oldest (and slowest) elevators. The bottom 2 floors are Worldmark and the top 3 are Wyndham. We are Worldmark people so our review is for that floor/experience.

The Good: Location, Very courteous staff, nice old world feel (San Diego - old world. Location with scooters all over the place. The staff try and do something nice each evening such as popcorn, wine, Italian sodas, nachos and beer. Not a big bucks affair but still appreciated.

The OK, Studio room was quite large with a stove top, full size fridge, cute kitchen and 2 closets, one being quite large. The whole room was nicely remodeled and yet the bones of the old building are well preserved.

The Not so good. OK, as mentioned it’s an old building and we are visiting during a particularly unusual and cold weekend. Crazy cold for San Diego with the TV News literally freaking out about a little hail! As the building is old, it’s very inconsistent in temperature and my wife and kids are struggling to get the temp right. It doesn’t help the thermostat for the room is right below the new and very quiet Split Heat Unit. Dumb place to put the thermostat. Also, since we are in the cheap seats and the windows are old and single pain (Cool damn near antique windows - though), man is it a noisy room! Street noise is pretty loud. The location has very awesome and fast valet service, but it’s valet with no neighborhood parking.

The not so good for teens news: Other than the park, zoo and museums, it’s not really a great location for tons of stuff to do. No fault of the Inn but the kids were a bit bored. If you want to be gone a lot and explore areas of San Diego, it’s a great place to center but no pool, no real amenities, and not much to do on site. This is not an issue of the Inn but just be aware this is a great place to plant a flag and roam, not a great place to find much else to do. There are some really decent neighborhood restaurants and we certainly ate well and cheap in San Diego; much cheaper than eating out in the Seattle area; where we are from.
