It's like being over the Mediterranean. Further Update June 2025. No more events at the Golf Couse over Holliday Weeks. Good view for Pismo Fireworks. Farmers Market Friday early evening during summer. The property has been repainted a non-Frank Lloyd Wright, Arts and Crafts era color — white — but still retains its original interior furniture. Staff continues to be helpful under new Corporate Management, but Holding same General Manager.

All that is needed is an independently employed weekend-working concierged and more maps, files, discounts, and local papers.

NEW UPDATE MEMORIAL DAY 2016; So, where can you go to see an ocean and beach town that gets 350 days of sun per year 3 hours out of LA and cost less than 175 night including full kitchen....ANSWER this place is the BOMB!

Update Memorial Day 2011. This property has been upgraded. Michael Kidd has imported the best beans from San Francisco and LA to make the wet capacino's overlooking the Pacific. Not to be missed.

The small town of Avila Beach has gone upscale (including, culture, jazz and Peets coffee. There is probably more sunshine and less fog in Avial then anywhere along the Coast until you get south to San diego. As a consequence the Board and staff, headed by Ben have been doing an amazing job of progressively remodeling, redoing the Kitchens and uping the level of professionalism in service.

There is a limit on coastal building and the town of Avila bursts with anything over 1000 people.

It is all close enough to San Luis Obispo, which is a college town. Try the Big Sky Cafe and the thursady night ribs at the farmer's market.

The views and serenity of spirit are to die for.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to stay. If you love nature and the ocean, the location can't be beat and the staff is friendly and helpful.

If there is one downside it's that since Diamond merged with Hilton, they are now using the sales office again and have instituted a daily amenities fee. Just be aware that when you walk by the concierge desk, you will be requested to do a timeshare presentation. They will take "no thanks" for an answer.

Just came back from a short visit at this older, well maintained resort. Location is everything. Short drives to wine country, Mission and world class restaurants. Spa, golfing, swimming and tennis on-site. Beach, a short walk. I had a fantastic facial and massage from Roxanna at the Spa - reasonably priced in a cute and calming atmosphere. Good job Roxanna.

Lost points on a disappointing use of the lobby floor, notebooks filling in for a concierge, vending machines passing for food service or onsite market and a really, really big problem - something unidentifiable going on between operations staff with an obvious distain for and problems with "those Sunterra people" as she referred to "them". After talking with many guests it appears that the Inn has changed hands several times. If the changes left scars - therapy and training can help and should be pursued. Something should be done because as a Sunterra guest (through Interval International not RCI) we should not have had to suffer such attitude (actually no one should have to) - after all you are in the hospitality business.

We love San Luis Bay Inn and especially this location. The Central Coast has so many fun things to do: new activities, foods and wine tasting, beach time. The days go by in a blur-the whole area is beautiful and Avila Beach is a welcoming home away from home.

We have cherished our many winter visits to this charming beach town and lovely resort, walking down to the beach and the little shops every day and strolling on the sand. So many side trips to take. Minutes to San Luis Obispo for fine dining, or to shop for art, designer fashion and home decorating items. Nearby Sycamore Springs to soak in mineral baths is a must. Lots of hiking and wineries in the area! The resort itself is high-level service with a beautiful pool area, gym, and taco night. Great rooms-- like a small full-kitchen apartment and comfy beds. We keep coming back!

My visits to San Luis Bay Inn with friends and family have been delightful. The facility is pleasant and friendly, and the location is excellent, with good weather, a beach with a lifeguard, a pleasant town and golf courses nearby. There are other points of interest within driving range. It's a great place to relax and enjoy!!

Ideally located on the central coast at the beach town of Avila. Avila Beach is an easy walk across the street and down from the resort. It is a beautiful beach for walking, swimming, sunbathing, or just sitting. There is also so much to do and see on the Central Coast.

We spend two weeks every summer at this location and have owned here for over 20 years.

This resort acquired by Hilton and rooms were updated. We are going again this year!
