You can't beat the location and weather! Walking distance to the Plaza in downtown Santa Fe. We love Canyon Road, the antique shops, and gardens in Santa Fe. The food in Santa Fe is also fantastic. There are one bedroom deluxe accommodations which include a gas fire place. With the exception of one year where we went to Sedona, AZ, my husband and I went to Santa Fe for 19 of the 20 years of ownership.

For a couple of decades, I have had this time share and used and enjoyed it in August on a week when the Santa Fe Opera offers several productions. It is convenient to the Plaza and near the highway to the Opera. Unfortunately, I cannot go this year and am renting it out for my week.

My sister and I stayed in September 2008. The weather was lovely, in the 70s, for walking the five or so blocks to the Plaza. Streets of wonderful shopping and window shopping, museums and restaurants, all walkable. There's a grocery store in a small mall a few blocks another direction. As for the Villas de Santa Fe, we really enjoyed it. The Villas has definitely come a long way since the oldest reviews on this page. I don't know about the size of one-bedroom units, but the bedrooms in the first-floor, two-bedroom unit we stayed in were large enough to be comfortable. The king-size bed was wonderful, not to firm, not to soft, in very good condition, and the bedding upgraded. There was flat-screen tv in the livingroom that split the two bedrooms. And a gas fireplace. The unit was tastefully decorated. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and all the cooking utensils we needed. The room was quiet and we didn't notice outside traffic from the street or hall. The property in split into two buildings. Our building was across a side street, had an outdoor spa tub, and we had easy access to the lobby across the street. Outside the lobby is a small pool and spa tub. The second building is beside the lobby. And we were always able to find a place to park, even late in the evenings in one parking lot or the other. There were many reference books and magazines avaiable in the lobby. There was also a side room with excercise equipment. There was juice and coffee in the mornings, two computers with internet to check your email or area offerings. The staff was very helpful. Although we didn't use the shuttle, there is one available for trips within a three-mile range, which covers a lot of great restaurants and sites. The Villas in a convenient location for a great trip. We spent two days walking and shopping, one driving around Santa Fe and taking in historical sites and another visiting the weekly farmer's market. Another day we visited the huge Flea Market outside of town. We stopped at a couple of fun casinos about a half-hour each way of Santa Fe. There are many within an hour's drive one direction or another. We drove up to Taos, caught a gallery show and window shopped. Great food and margaritas everywhere! I'm an owner at Villas de Santa Fe, but this was the first time I was able to visit. I will definitely be back again soon.

1 Bedroom is on the small side but has everything needed and is very clean. Location is excellent for walking to lots of things. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Free use of computers in lobby for checking email or printing boarding passes and free shuttle bus within 3 mile radius made this an excellent choice for a stress free vacation.

It took us 2 years to exchange into Villas de Santa Fe but it was worth it. Our 1 bedroom unit had everything we needed but was not particularly large or well laid out. The place is very convenient if you care to walk downtown and also easy to get to the highway north to Taos, etc.

The parking spaces are very narrow so be careful. We experienced absolutely no pressure to buy which we appreciated. I even went up to the sales person to ask about the Sunterra system - points vs. weeks. Check-in and out were a piece of cake.

Whatever those folks complained about in earlier postings, I sure don't see it now.

It wasn't a motel before, by the way, it was a Homewood Suites. So the units are on the small side, and absolutely adequate. And there aren't a zillion activities on the property-- this is right in the heart of Santa Fe, so you have most everything you came here for within walking distance.

The units have all been redone, with new furniture, appliances, carpeting, art, the works.

The staff is friendly, the free shuttle a real convenience, and you sure can't beat the location. And the location is a big part of the draw-- within blocks of the historic plaza (don't say square, please), museums, restaurants, galleries, shopping.

Part of me hesitates to add this message, since I am an owner here and we like having such a great place for our overflow guests to stay.

But for those of you who want to come from other places to visit this great little town, it's only fair to let you know that Villas de Santa Fe is a good homebase from which to explore.

Maybe the Reorganization of Sunterra or the presense of their new regional manager changed a number of things because we were very pleased with this place...and we had the smallest of the one bedrooms, with three adults.

The bedroom had plenty of room to store everything and ours had two double beds, while you can have a king...that would have allowed even more room...big bathroom with seperated vanity sink area...

One wall kitchen with everything you needed, but small dining table and tight in the family room so we moved a few things and made it better....

Everything was in very good condition including the carpets...must have been changed out since the last review....

Take a compact car as the lot has more compact spaces available...big trucks make it tough for everybody but there is off street parking if needed....

Supermarket close and theaters too...walked to Santa Fe and had a great week...We would not have liked downtown locations near the nightclubs....

People at the desk were friendly to us and we didn't go to any sales pitches...just say NO...

3 stars because of location. Stayed here for Indian Market week (August, 2002). Yes, it is a converted hotel, rooms are dark and small and parking lot outside bedroom window is noisy and late night inconsiderate guests are annoying. Pool was fine and the free shuttle is very convenient. Location is the reason to stay here. You can walk to downtown. There aren't too many time shares in Santa Fe and it's hard to trade-in and hotels are very expensive in the downtown Plaza area.

Save your time- it IS a converted hotel- nothing more than a low end Holiday Inn- Small, cold pool, coin laundry, obnoxious cleaning ladies and a drunk sales counselor (we are RCI members, would NOT buy at this location, period!)

Well worn carpets, banged up furniture, worn out towels- you'll see it all here. They are not hte only share in town, check "Otra Vez", much more friendly, better location.
