  • Trapp Family Lodge & Guest Houses

    Stowe, Vermont

There really is a place where the grass is greener, the snow is more pristine and the autumn is more brilliant. Where the sights of nature and the sound of music create a vivid symphony for the senses - and where visitors come to be renewed. The Trapp Family Lodge is the place. Activities abound during all four seasons, with 2,700 acres to explore. Take a garden tour or a nature hike. Snowshoe, trek, or cross-country ski on our renowned trails. Go for an old-fashioned horse drawn carriage ride, swim, play tennis or stroll down our quiet country road. Or simply exercise your right to do nothing at all. Year round festivals, antiquing, attractions, art galleries, dining and shopping are all available in the quaint 200- year old town of Stowe.

This resort gets 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor. Here's a typical review:

Excellent stay. I am not exaggerating in saying the Trapp Family Lodge is the best place to stay in the Northeast if you are looking for relaxing, outdoor centric, first class dining and lodging with incredible scenery (on property) and in a quintessential New England small town (Stowe).

Stayed at Trapp Family Lodge Guest Houses week #29 July 17, and really liked the stay. The units recently installed air conditioning, which is a plus. There are plenty of activities right at the lodge, mountain biking, swimming, fitness center, outdoor center, tours of the property including history, meet the cows, meet the sheep and maple syrup making tours. I do plan on staying again and now will come up in the summer knowing that there is air conditioning.

My wife and I and occasionally a few friends have rented the Guest Houses a number of times during the ski season and only had fantastic experiences. What an amazing resort. Such a special place for making memories. We love snowshoeing and X-C skiing and the Trapp property is enormous and has lots of beautiful different landscapes to explore - we especially like snow shoeing up to the mountain cabin with our X-C skies lashed to a small back packs, warm up next to the raging wood fire place, enjoy a soup or some baked goodies always available, and then switch to our X-C skies and slide down the really pretty trails that wander through the open forest and head back to the sports centre for a hot apple cider and some time in a lazy chair soaking in the bright winter sunshine. WOW !! And that''s only the start, theres a great olympic pool, sauna, outdoor hot tub, climbing wall, great massage therapists. We've always felt like a week seemed longer because of so many different things you can pack into a day at the Trapp's. The Trapp brewery and Octoberfest styled beer hall was a great stop on the X-C trail - amazing. The clydesdale horse drawn sleigh ride is always a winter favourite for us. We love the Guest House units too because they are so well built and cozy and remind us of our trips to Austria and Switzerland. Its just a great place for a winter holiday. Unique experience in North America.
