    Honolulu, Hawaii

Located in the Waikiki Banyan Towers, the Sweetwater at Waikiki Banyan resort is within walking distance to Waikiki Beach. This ultra-convenient location paired with a wealth of family-friendly activities make Sweetwater at Waikiki Banyan the perfect getaway for your group's Oahu getaway. Get your swing in shape on the tennis court, splash in the pool, soak in the hot tub, or relax in the sauna while the kids play on the playground. At night, host your own private luau in the resort's patio area as you grill up some steaks.

Sweetwater at Waikiki Banyan offers spacious one-bedroom, one-bathroom units with all the space you need to unwind. Light colors, tropical prints and island- inspired furniture lend a breezy, open feel to every unit. A full kitchen and dining area lets the family enjoy meals together when you feel like staying in, and the private lanai is ideal for catching that Hawaiian sun. With room to sleep up to four, the rooms at Sweetwater at Waikiki Banyan feature a king-size bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size Murphy bed in the living area.

Just down the street from the Sweetwater at Waikiki Banyan is the magnificent 500-acre Kapiolani Park. The park is the site of historic Diamond Head, the famous Kodak Hula Show, the world renown Honolulu Zoo, and the Waikiki Shell. At Kapiolani Park, you can browse the Sunday art shows, test your aim at the archery range or go for a jog on the three mile jogger's course, which encompasses part of the Honolulu Marathon Course. Around the island you will also find plenty of popular places to explore, such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole Plantation, Pearl Harbor Memorial, Waimea Falls Park, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum of Hawaiian Heritage or the Se Life Park on Waimanalo Beach where you can watch the whales perform.

We love staying at the Sweetwater Waikiki. It is only a couple of blocks back from Waikiki Beach, next door to the Honolulu Zoo and close to shopping and restaurants. It is our favorite place to vacation. We think you will love the pool and the hot tub and the BBQ grills that are available for use and the option to prepare food in the unit or eat out.

We love this resort. It's a great fit for a family of 4 and with the newly updated kitchen and baths (new cabinets, Corian & granite counters), now looks comparable to the new Hilton Hawaiian Village rooms.

The location is excellent. I love Kuhio Beach (part of Waikiki) with it's rock waterfalls, seawall, nightly entertainment (torch lighting & hula/Hawaiian music) at the big Banyan tree & stage. The seawall allows families with small children to enjoy the beach without fear of being drawn out to sea. We used scuba masks and saw TONS of beautiful, different fish on and around the seawall--actually very comparable to what we saw the day before at Hanuama Bay. (Of course only Hanauma had any turtles, though.)

Right now (Dec. 06) the only problem is Honolulu has part of the beach under construction to pump new sand in the beach, so there's noise & ugly equipment at part of the beach.

The only reason I don't put 5 stars is it doesn't offer unlimited linen exchange (only 1 x per week), include maid service or concierge services. There is an Expedia rep in the lobby to help anyone with additional vacation plans.

We've owned here for 5 years and plan to buy another unit soon. I highly recommend it unless luxury/pampering/on-site spa service is your top priority.

    • This place has a new lobby, and pretty good location but older rooms. Our family enjoyed our stay here. The BBQ grills are coin operated.
