We have just returned from two weeks in
Orlando. Arrived at Silver Lake the day after
Hurricane Charley hit - there was some
damage, although nothing that appeared
major. The staff at check-in were polite,
efficient and friendly and later, when we
discovered that the roof of our apartment was
leaking, explained that they wouldn't be able
to get a roofing contractor for several days,
but quickly provided new pillows to replace the
wet ones.
The resort appears to be well cared for and
our apartment was clean and spacious. with
large rooms. Everything worked and was in
good condition throughout. We were told on
the sales tour that these were older units and
would be refurbished with more modern
furnishings in the autumn. Newer units are
slightly smaller I believe. The only drawback is
that the living area can only seat 5
comfortably, which would be difficult if there
were 8 in the 2 bedroomed unit.
The resort was ideally placed for Disney,
particularly if the rear exit was used. It is very
secure and secluded, although very close to
Hwy 192.
There is a large pool with plenty of loungers
and umbrellas beside this there is a beach bar
with daily specials which seemed quite
reasonable. Activities are provided for children
throughout the day and there is a fitness
room, movie theatre, games room and internet
access.
The timeshare presentation was quite low key
as the saleswoman soon realised that we had
what we required already so gave us a guided
tour to fill up the time. We elected to have a
cash gift which we spent in some of the local
eating places.
I should imagine that it would be an ideal
resort for family holidays - it is relatively small
with the pool and all activities centrally placed.
We would definitely return and recommend it
to anyone.
