We have owned at Sands of Kahana for over 20 years and we love the resort! We always feel like we're home once we arrive. The units are very spacious and have been updated in the last 5 years with upgrades to the kitchen, furniture, carpeting and window coverings. We love being able to walk from our condo directly to the beach. The location in Kahana makes for easy access to Kaanapali, Lahaina and Kapalua but keeps you out of the hustle and bustle of the busy resort areas. When we stay at the Sands, there are days we never leave the resort. Everything we need is right there! This 3 bedroom untit is perfect for a family or couples/friends traveling together.

Let me start that most units do not have air conditioning. They normally have trade winds but the week we were there were none. The condo's have been refurbished and are very nice. Nice enough I could live there and retire if there was Air co. The location is great and the pool and beach access were fantastic. I would recommend this place, but check the weather repost before you do. No air or air flow was not comfortable at all. All the beds were very nice and comfortable, but again it was to hot in the unit for a comfortable sleep.

Just got back from one week in a two bedroom unit. This was our first time at the Sands of Kahana and I don't think we'll be back...for one reason only. The no A/C in the units did us in. We happened to be there when the trade winds were uncharacterically calm so there was a lack of "ocean breeze" to cool the unit. I think had there been the trade winds we might have still had a problem based on the location of the unit. We were in building 4, 3rd floor and although we had a grand view of the ocean, I think the other buildings blocked the breeze. We found if we left our door open which faced back of building, we could get a breeze but that obviously wasn't safe. Also, because you have to leave all windows open in hopes of getting a breeze it was extremely noisy. We were awakened by crying babies, maintenance staff, etc.....oh and the sprinklers that went on each morning at 3:30 am. Other than this, the staff and grounds are great and the 2 BR unit was very spacious and quite nice, except there was a mildewy smell in the bathrooms which do not get any ventilation.

We have owned several weeks of Time Share at Sands of Kahana for many years. It's always a joy to stretch out in these huge units, relax at the pools, play some tennis or pickle ball, or go for walk on the beach. We're glad to share one week with you in 2024. (Note: If you have little children, you and they are going to love the kiddie pool.)

The resort is nice and right on the beach. I stayed here for the first time in May 2006. I have mixed feelings about this property. When we arrived, our room was not ready, and it was already 3:30pm. Our room was huge; bigger than any other timeshare unit I've ever seen in Maui. I like visiting in May because because the tradewinds keep the temp cool. However, this time we experienced a heat wave in the middle of our trip. Our unit felt like an oven at night. Everyone in our unit was miserable. This place has got to upgrade and install air conditioning!! I'm used to the heat; I live in California, but the heat in the unit was unbearable, even with the ceiling fans!! The heat kept us up all night, and even with the windows open, there was no breeze because our unit was blocked by two buildings. I will never stay here again, but for what it's worth, it is a nice property. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Our family of six stayed at this resort in April 2005. We stayed in the penthouse unit in building 2. The view from the room was spectacular. The staff was very friendly and helpful as were the activities director.

The three bedroom unit was very large but in need of renovation. We had little privacy due to the floor plan. This resort has no A/C in the rooms. When we opened the two lanai doors at night to cool the room down every door in the unit rattled. The beach and restaurant at this resort were average at best.

We had a nice time but I need a quiet room, A/C, and privacy in order to get a good nights rest from the days activities.

6 of us stayed here in 2001. We loved the Penthouse suite - very large. The beach is close and beautiful and the barbeques are fantastic. They were always clean and well maintained as well as the grounds. The location for us was perfect. I highly recommend this resort to everyone.

We've owned at the Sands of Kahana for over 25 years and enjoyed our ownership. The three bedroom units are great for families and friends to share the week. The staff is always friendly and the grounds are well maintained. Kahana is a nice get away from the more popular beaches and has nice waves and an easily reached reef for snorkeling. Lots of local dining options near the resort. Our travel/vacations have changed and would like to see this week go to a family that loves Maui.

We have been owners at Sands for 20 years. We love this resort. My husband passed away a few years ago and I am sad that I will no longer be able to travel to Maui. Sands has all kinds of activities for all ages, a restaurant on site and bar with a very beautiful pool. The views are one in a million being able to watch the whales from the balcony as well as some of the most beautiful sunset. It is so close to shopping, golf courses and beaches. Our unit is Oceanview and I highly recommend it.

Overall impression Sands of Kahana is the kind of oceanfront resort that makes Maui feel like a true home away from home, combining spacious condo-style living with the amenities of a full-service property right on the sand between Kaʻanapali and Kapalua. From sunrise over the water to sunset cocktails on the lanai, every day here feels relaxed, easy, and effortlessly beautiful.

Location and views Set on Maui’s famous west coast, the resort sits directly on a sandy beach with wide-open views of Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi across the channel. Stepping out from the building and straight onto the beach makes it incredibly convenient for morning walks, snorkeling, or just lounging in the sun.

Rooms and comfort The condominium-style units are impressively large, with one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts that give you space to spread out, cook, and relax like a local. Having a fully equipped kitchen, in‑room washer/dryer, and a private lanai makes longer stays especially comfortable and family‑friendly.

Amenities and activities The resort delivers a full slate of amenities: separate pools for adults and kids, a hot tub, tennis and pickleball courts, a putting green, basketball, fitness center, and direct beach access all on property. Between the ocean, pools, on‑site games, and family‑oriented spaces like the game room, there is always something to do without ever getting in the car.

Dining and atmosphere Having an on‑site restaurant and bar (often noted for good food and a relaxed vibe) makes it easy to grab a casual breakfast, lunch, or sunset drink without leaving the resort. The overall atmosphere is laid‑back, friendly, and unpretentious, with helpful staff and neighbors that make the property feel safe, welcoming, and wonderfully low‑stress.

We have owned weeks at Sands of Kahana for over 25 years. Christmas and New Year's week. The 3-bedroom units have recently been updated, and all have great views of the ocean (look for the whales). The location is perfect for whale watching, swimming, SUP'ing and more. Close to many restaurants (try Dolly's for great local pizza), and more. We usually cook our own meals 1/2 the time on the outdoor (shared) grills and in the fully equipped kitchen. This year, we are taking the kids to Japan and have to miss our annual Maui trip. Our loss is your opportunity to stay at this premium resort.

We love the Sands of Kahana. Their apartments are very spacious and the furniture/beds are great. The best is the large lanais. We love to sit on the lanai gaze at the ocean, watch whale spouts and breaches and watch turtles and monk seals swimming by. The sunsets and rainbows are fabulous.

Sands of Kahana units are very large and comfortable. They have all the comforts of home including full kitchen and a washer and dryer in the unit. Gas BBQ grills in the yard by each building. Beautiful views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Peak humpback whale season is in January and February, and they can be seen from the beach as well as many sea turtle sightings.
