The Cottages at King's Creek Plantation Reviews & Ratings

We have visited this resort at least 5 times in the last 10 years. It is great if you have children because there is plenty of room, various pools, and the resort is very close to the amusement parks. Always have had good service, clean facilities and comfortable and clean cottages.

The King's Creek separate 3 bedroom cottages are the ideal situation for traveling with another family - privacy, loads of room and great location. We have stayed here many times before finally purchasing one. Have also stayed at Powhattan, Greenspring, Williamsburg Plantation and The Colonies. Kings Creek is by far the best of the bunch. I have had nothing but great comments from my renters on the years that we couldn't go - this year included. Highly recommended, straight-up.

Liars and theives. I am sorry to say I bought at Kings Creek. They will promise the world. If you are foolish enough to buy, get every word they say in writing. Believe nothing or you will be so sorry too. My best advice is not to buy. Unless you want to buy mine--in the cottages--3 br w. lock-off. I am anxious to sell.

Maybe Their Accommodations Are Better Than Their Timeshare Sales... But I Doubt That!

Went on a 3-hour tour, but was not at all impressed with their facilities. Every unit had two garbage cans on the front sidewalk which makes it look more like a large housing sub-development rather than an actual timeshare resort.

Also, we were not impresed with the promises of future development allegedly substantiated by a dormant back hoe, and empty construction trailers. When asked why no construction work was being done during the middle of the workday, we received a paltry response of, "The builders are so generous that they gave the workers off for the entire Christmas week". Somehow I get the feeling that if we were to tour again in 6-months that the back hoe would be located in the exact position, and the construction trailers would be similarly empty.

Not only would I say that this resort is well "off of the beaten trail", but the GPS took us down the street to someone's backyard whose surroundings reminded me of a scene from Deliverance; I could almost hear the banjos. In fact, the whole experience was like a bad movie when the salesman enacted a scene from Psycho when questioned whether this resort was REALLY one of the Top 25 Resorts on Interval International (comparable to Marriott's Grand Vista in Orlando). Wow, the poor guy blew a gasket about having his "integrity questioned" but yet could not, and would not answer the basic question of what the brand name of the development company is that identifies their "huge network of luxurious and world reknown resorts". Hmmmm... I think it's time to show me the money because this Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairys is over.

The Pros: Very relaxing, just right for families. We had two one-bedroom units, which seemed smaller than some I've been to, but were still plenty for our needs. Our units overlooked on of the pool and playground areas which was great for our two small kids. The larger kiddie pool is the best! Colonial Williamsburg is very close and is an attraction that needs several days to enjoy. There are not a ton of activities on the resort, but that is because it would have to compete with SO many surrounding attractions. I can see why people come year after year- they never run out of things to do and see. The Cons: Pretty minor things- I would have liked a restaurant on site. The hot tub was too cold to enjoy one night. The stove burner trays did not fit. The cable for the VCR/DVD player was missing. Definitely would return- no question.

This is the nicest place we've exchanged our timeshare for!! It felt like a home away from home. The cottages are very spacious. It was great to have 2 bedrooms, one for us and one for the kids, instead of one bedroom for everyone. It was also great to have a separate level with a living room, so the kids could sleep while we watched TV or a movie at night. There was a washer and dryer in our cottage and a full kitchen. Everything we wanted to do was very close by. Water Country is right next door, Busch Gardens is 1 mile away, a large outlet shopping mall is 20 minutes away, colonial Williamsburg is 15 minutes away. Everyone was very helpful and kind, not only the people at Kings Creek, the people of Williamsburg, VA were always very courteous and friendly. The pools were very clean and nice. The only bad thing was that there isn't internet access in every unit, only 3 computers that are hooked up to the internet that all the guests had to share. We are definitely going back to King's Creek in the future.

This is by far the nicest place we've exchanged into. You get used to their nice size units and amenities and then go to other places and are so disappointed that it is not more like King's Creek.....definitely going back every year and more....well worth the trade.

Solid 4 star, only been to a few worthy places of a 5 star rating! great location, super sized, plenty of local todo-s for all ages. Everything a condo should offer is here. Be back at least once a year forever!

Great place for families. Lots of room in the cottage, like a home away from home. Can't beat the location, right next to Water Country USA.

Very nice units--a little private house all for you and your family rather than an apartment-style condo. Great indoor and outdoor pools, nice location right by Water Country.

The 5 star rating is for the unit size and style for a 3 bedroom.

King's Creek stay: October 2004.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at King's Creek Plantation. The accomodations were wonderful, considering the great rate we paid through Redweek.com. I was told by the owner/broker that King's Creek was a no smoking resort unlike many in the area, so as a one-time renter I didn't have to worry about ending up with a unit that had been used by smokers. That could have ruined a great vacation. Our two bedroom, 2.5 bath unit worked well for our three adults and two children. Both bedrooms were downstairs from the main level with a King bed in the master bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom and a pull-out sleeper sofa in the main level great room. Each bedroom had a television. The washer/dryer set in the unit was well used, and a plus over other resorts that have shared laundry facilities. The unit was clean, quiet, and well maintained. We never heard our neighbors who shared our two-unit building, and we hope they could say the same.

The kitchen was stocked with very basic tools, cookware and dinnerware. Fortunately we only ate-in for breakfast since we had to purchase every edible item, even salt and pepper. Housekeeping supplied a single-use box of laundry detergent and some diswasher tablets.

The resort's location right off the highway is ideal for visiting the Historic triangle. Because we vacationed off-season, our stay was quiet and we didn't use any of the resort's facilities. But, King's Creek's layout was nice for walking.

The sales staff contacted us only once at the end of our week to ask us to consider a time-share purchase, and they kindly accepted our refusal without any pressure.

If I were vacationing in the area again I would definitely stay at King's Creek again.

We stayed March 5-12, 2005. The resort was fine, not anywhere near 5 Star but a nice resort. We found the people at the front desk to be somewhat unfriendly and unprofessional. They were more interested in lecturing us on their check-in/check-out procedures and rules/regulations than welcoming us and making us feel that we were wanted and appreciated. Also a package had been mailed to the resort on Feb. 26 with my name on it and "attn: guest will arrive on March 5". Upon arrival I inquired about it but no one even had any record of it being received. This was on Sat. - I inquired Sun. and Mon. but was told they knew nothing of it. Late Mon. PM the front desk called to tell me the package was there - "I don't know anything about it, I was just told to give it to you" the clerk said.

Activities at the resort were practically non- existent which did not matter to us as we made a point to stay busy sightseeing this great historical area.

Perhaps with some professional training of their staff members, this resort would rank better. I would probably be willing to give them another try, but only at a bargain price.

When we walked into the unit, the first thing that happened was the front fell off the cabinet under the sink. This happened each time someone shut the front door until we just left if off. Maintance was notified but no one ever came.The unit we was in was a 2 bed room with 2 and a half baths. The Brady Bunch was in the other side and they loved to take baths at 3 am. The pipes ratteled so bad when the water was turned on in either unit that my friend heard them over the telephone when I was talking to her one nite .The walls are so thin we could actually hear them talking about their plans for the next day.There was one rocking chair on the front porch that was always taken .The telephone in the master bedroom had a bad rattle in it and if you didnt move, you could hear whoever you were talking to. The one downstairs would cut you off if you moved while talking on it. There is ongoing construction right beside the unit we were in and they began nailing shingles each morning at 6:30 am sharp. The eletric went out 3 times while we were there and there is no flashlights in the units.The unit is roomy enough for the 4 that was in our group. The wide screen t.v down stairs is nice. There was a t.v in each bedroom also. Linens are in short supply. There was 4 towels and 4 bath cloths for the week. There is no fitted sheets and the flat sheets used for fitted didnt fit the bed well as each morning they were off the bed. The unit we were in had signs stating that there was no smoking allowed but there was ashes in the bathroom sink when we arrived.ALso in the down stairs bathroom,there was a soggy used bar of soap lying on the sink .The upstairs bathrooms have no sink space at all. Not enough room for tooths brushes and paste both to be left on top.

The best part of this place is it is located right beside water country usa so that makes it nice to come back and eat then go back to play. I will not be going back to this resort .

This is our "home" resort. I don't think we'll give anyplace a 5. If you give it a 5, basically you're implying that it's perfect and they don't need to change anything. We give it a solid 4.

The staff was superb, very friendly and helpful.

They now have the new addition - the Townes area (which is also still under construction and expanding). These are condos, but nice. We own a cottage. The Towne's pool is very nice. It's a three-level pool, each cascading down and more shallow at each level. There's also a tiny baby pool with sprinkler and with the rubber-type surface so they won't hurt themselves. The cottage-area also has a plain pool, varying in depth. A play area is also located at that pool. I believe next year the indoor aquatic center is supposed to be done, which will help make this an all-year- round resort.

As I mentioned, we own a cottage and it was our first time actually staying there. The rooms were nice and neat. The furniture was fine. I understand it's a timeshare and that people are going to abuse it a little more than their own home, so there were a few little nicks and dents in stuff, but nothing worth complaining about.

What we found out though, is that there are three different style cottages. One of them actually has a little more room in the bedrooms (can't find my notes to say exactly which one, if I find it, I'll make another post). We stayed in a James style and the bedrooms were a bit small. They come with two twins and from what were told, there's no roll-away beds, but there are cribs for infants. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. In the living room, the big screeen TV is a plus. There's a pull-out couch. They only have VCR's at this point, no DVD players. If you have a PS2, Game Cube, etc., bring it. The kids can watch their DVD's on them and the adults can goof with a couple games after the kids go to bed.

The AC wasn't working when we first got there on a hot July day, but, the maintenance guys were out in a flash fixing it. The person that handles activities for kids was out, and there was no one filling in for her while she was gone, so that was a little disappointing.

The new Townes area has plenty of nice new grills to use, whereas grills are pretty sparse in the Cottage area.

Location is great with the water park litterally a half mile walk if you wanted to. Busch Gardens is a 10 minute ride. VA Beach - 45 minutes.

Lastly, they also have plans to put in a mini- golf.

Very, very nice resort though and we'll be coming back year after year.

We were just there 7/25/04-7/29/04. we had a two bedroom townhouse that was, very spacious. Our stay was to short. It's a five star resort, we are planning to retun next year.

My husband and I, and another couple shared a two bedroom unit in May at this resort. The resort cottages and the grounds are very beautiful. It was like a home away from home experiance. The cottages have everything your house would, and made vacationing at our favorite place even more enjoyable.

The only complaint I had, was that the porches for the cottages are adjoining to the other unit next door. We had some very strange neighbors the first three days that did nothing but sit on the porch, smoke, drink, and use every rocking chair on the porch, (they're supposed to be shared, 2 for each unit). I think that the resort could have better thought out the placement of the entrances and porches to these cottages. It's fine if you have considerate neighbors, but when you don't, it can be a real challenge.

we use our week every other yr, depositing or renting the other yr's. This is a most enjoyable, friendly resort, with more to do than time allows. Area interests include,golf, shopping, boat tours of Hampton Roads, including Newport News shipyard, (all aircraft carriers built here), Norfolk Naval Base, theme parks, (Busch Gardens, Water Country USA), ocean beaches, over 5000 miles of shoreline. Nightlife, eateries, musuems. Washington, DC is a day trip. This area is rich with history, both past and future, (ie; NASA). IF A DIFFERENT WK NEEDED, I WOULD TRY TO CHANGE.

What a fantastic resort! Our week-long vacation begin 7/12/03 & ended too soon. On-site tennis, basketball, playground, games room, exercise room, swimming pool. Water Country is 4/10 of a mile from the resort & Busch Gardens is a 10 minute drive! Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown & Outlet shopping are a short ride from Kings Creek.

This is our 3rd visit to Williamsburg - until now Greensprings Plantation was our favorite resort, now we cannot decide which resort we like more! The cottage style units are fabulous.

Every family should experience Williamsburg. It's a location that is sure to please all ages.

When we stayed here there was a MAJOR problem with squirels and mice in the walls. It was so loud it woke us up every night. When we asked to move units we were treated very rudely. Also there childrens programs could use improvement.

The cottages are very spacious and offer a great deal of privacy . The staff is extremely attentive to all your needs. Close to all attractions and convenient enough to come back to the resort midday and return to parks in evening. Felt extremely safe and secure but most important the kids had a great time.

I've stayed at this resort a couple of times and find it very pleasant. It's quiet, well cared for, and close to area attractions. The timeshares are in the form of cottages which are unique and feel very spacious. The amenities are nice and I found the staff very friendly. I've only stayed at about 5 timeshares nationwide but I'd consider this one my favorite.
