Just returned from post-Wilma two weeks at the
Coral Princess (Feb 2006). This resort and
staff are amazing.
We learned that the Coral Princess was damaged
in the hurricane along with every other
beachside resort on the island. However, the
Coral Princess has returned to better than ever
status - unlike others we saw.
All condos have been upgraded with new
furniture, new kitchens, new air conditioning,
drapery, televisions, mattresses, linens and
upholstery. One of the best dive shops on the
island is also on site and fully functional with
pristine boats and great, safe dive masters -
Pepe's Scuba. The resort has upgraded all of
their public ammenities; such as heated pool,
new beach furnishings, two new restaurants, new
spa, gym, lounge, sun deck and pool bar. Many
additional upgrades were in the works while we
were there; such as Internet cafe, game room,
new elevators, entertainment bar, landscaping
and additional furniture.
We were told that while many other resorts on
the island await slow coming insurance money to
rebuild properly, the deep pockets of the Coral
Princess owner has allowed for immediate
restoration using the opportunity to do planned
upgrades in one big swoop.
This is a First Class resort with a wonderful,
warm, welcoming staff. We would not hesitate to
return or recommend.
