This resort is quiet, has very kind and helpful staff, and provides a perfect location to visit and experience the entire island of Hawaii. I've been to most of the Hawaiian Islands and this island and this location is my favorite.

We just returned from a week (2/17 - 2/24/07) at MLV. We rented a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit through RedWeek. We had a very good experience with the transaction. We had a great time in Hawaii. The resort itself is nice, but lacking some amenities that would have made it nicer.

The unit itself was very large and very nice. It is 2 stories, with the bedrooms downstairs and the living area upstairs. The kitchen was well equipped. The coffee maker was broken, but a call to the front desk had us a brand new one in less than 10 minutes. The beds were comfortable. The unit was clean and well stocked. There were plenty of towels, extra pillows, blankets, etc. There was a lanai on each floor that had a nice view of the grounds. The unit had central air conditioning and it worked great. We had a midweek cleaning with fresh towels and sheets. Overall, we were very pleased with the unit.

The grounds are beautiful and well cared for.

The staff was friendly and very helpful.

There are 8 swimming pools and hot tubs. They are well cared for but hardly ever used. If you want a pool or hot tub all to yourself, 98% of the time it is yours.

If you like to golf, the golf course is right next door. It is a beautiful course that is right on the ocean.

      Aloha,

My husband and I own at Wyndham Mauna Loa Village and have stayed there several times. Our last trip there was November 2008 and the unit had been totally renovated and was very clean and tastefully decorated. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating.

Our unit had 2 bedrooms (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs)and 3 full bathrooms (2 up and 1 down). The 2 bedroom units are extremely spacious for Hawaii (I think nearly 1400 sq. feet). I don't know why the 3 full bathrooms are not mentioned in the resort's description. Our entire top floor was mostly windows facing the golf course with a very large lanai and beautiful tropical view. The downstairs bedroom also has a lanai area with sliding glass doors. There is a lot of privacy for 2 couples.

The grounds are immaculate and very lush with tropical plants. There are a lot of pools and hot tubs and they have never been crowded when I was there. In fact, most times my husband and I were the only ones using the hot tub at night. It is very serene and quiet and feels more like what it would be like living in a townhouse in Hawaii, not just visiting.

You can walk to the Sheraton for restaurants and to watch the manta rays at night. Keauhou Bay is also adjacent to the Sheraton. Keauhou shopping complex is about 1/2 mile away up on the hillside with restaurants, a movie theatre and large grocery store and ocean views. This shopping center is used more by locals than tourists as much of the surrounding neighborhood has upscale condos and homes. It is also a short drive to Kailua-Kona where restaurants, shopping and nightlife abound. The area is great for walking and jogging too. It feels very safe.

Lastly, Keauhou and Kailua-Kona have some of the best weather in the islands, especially in the winter months for those of you wishing to escape cold winters. It is much less windy and rainy than some other locations. I lived in Hawaii on Oahu and the Big Island for 20 years and have visited most locations on Kauai and Maui too, so I am familiar with what the better locations and timeshares are. Mauna Loa is one of my top picks.

      Mahalo and Enjoy!

This unit is a town house (an upper floor with living area, kitchen, and 1st bedroom). Beautiful views of the grounds. The bottom floor has the 2nd bedroom and bathroom. The two king beds are great for couples vacationing together. Covered parking in a parking garage. Great for tennis, pickleball, and golfers. Shopping area just 1.5 miles away.

This is a great resort near Keauhou Bay for anyone who doesn't need the hustle + bustle of a full scale hotel resort (or the high prices). Each building has just 5 units (2 bed each). It's easy to visit with family + friends and really relax. The Sheraton is walking distance for entertainment, and Keauhou Bay provides access to snorkeling cruises and swimming. The full kitchen makes it easy to do as much or as little food prep as you choose. And there are some great restaurants nearby as well as in Kona town. And you'll be close to the Kona Ironman on the 27th. Just $425 per night for 6 people in a 2 bedroom unit with a sofa bed. Units are approximately 1600+ sq ft. and lanais.
